Coxcombing originally referred to a regular crisscrossing of strands to create a cylindrical protective covering usually seen on telescopes. Coxcomb now is just a generic covering. I use nylon twine in a fancy hitching pattern to do most of the covering. I also use a thump mat for the bottom and 2 different Turks heads for decoration top and bottom. These vases can take a fall and unless they land directly on the rim, they will survive.
